The Way of the Walk: A Meditation on Unity and Well-being

“That is not our way, to set yourself apart and talk about who you are and what you’ve done. You let your life speak for you,” echoes the wisdom of Tom Porter, a Mohawk elder. “With the Mohawk people, wisdom is how you live and how you interpret what your mother and father, what your grandmothers and grandfathers have told you about this world - and then how you interpret that into the fact of living every day.”

This profound understanding resonates with the principles of recovery, where actions speak louder than words. In the N.A. Just for Today meditation, we learn that “conflicts are a part of reality,” and we are encouraged to “confront conflict in a healthy way.” What does healthy means anyway? Creating is not problem solving. You can solve all your problems and still not have what you want. Conflict is key point where values and aspirations diverges.
By integrating these two perspectives, It’s an opportunity to embark on a journey of self-discovery and spiritual awakening in which we learn to embody the wisdom of our ancestors, letting our lives be a testament to our values and beliefs. We embrace the challenges of conflict as opportunities for growth, applying the principles of our program to navigate them with honesty, openness, and compassion toward creating a foundation of unity within ourselves and with our relatives.

Through this unified approach, we cultivate a sense of well-being that transcends cultural boundaries. We recognize the interconnectedness of all beings and strive to live in harmony with ourselves, others, and the world around us.

As we walk the path of integrity and authenticity, our lives become a beacon of inspiration, illuminating the way for others seeking unity and spiritual awakening. We become living embodiments of the wisdom that is given to us. If your lives makes so much noise that people can’t hear what you are saying anyway, you are ready for the creator’s powers and a restoration to sanity.

Let us walk this path together, guided by the principles of our ancestors and the strength of our recovery programs. Let us be the change we wish to see in the world, creating a tapestry of unity and well-being that embraces all cultures and celebrates the human spirit.
